Three Boys collect their GobabyGo BMW

Benjamin is the oldest, at four, but with spastic CP quadriplegia, he's expected to have very little walking ability and initially was clearly uncertain of his surroundings. Luca, slightly younger, but affected by cerebellar atrophy only in terms of delayed milestones and expected to walk some day, was almost immediately at the controls of his car. Mark and Murray having explained it to his parents, and discovered he didn't need the extra steering wheel handles - we removed them, and will save them for another child's car - he was away. The bigger cars can be controlled entirely by remote, so we operated the throttle while Luca steered. When he's more used to it, he'll be doing it all - the buddy switch that can be operated walking alongside will fit via velcro to any surfact that will work for Luca to access the throttle.

Benjamin having seen the fun was put back in his car, and this time, almost immediately he got moving he reveealed those gorgeous dimples and that wide smile. Mum tried wrapping his fingers around the steering handle, and Mark on the remote tried turning the car whenever his hand impacted the wheel, but we know from experience this will take a while, and apparently his dad is looking forward to helping him get the hang of things.

As for Jackson, his cerebral palsy affects his legs, though wth his braces he can almost toddle.. At two years old, he has delayed milestones but is expected one day to walk, Meanwhile he was very suspicious about the prospect of a free car, but when Benjamin cruised past he couldn't get in fast enough. Mum operated the buddy switch while he got used to it, and we're confident that once in a familiar environment he'll get the hang of it.

Seeing those smiles made it all worth while, and it certainly drew BMW's helpful techs out of the woodwork to watch!
